Basket Plants
We are ready with lots of new and all of the old varieties for 2016, all at nursery prices. We only sell well grown young plants. Not the silly little plug plants the mail order people try to sell us. We have the full range of Surfinia and million bells backed up with Bacopa and Fuchsia both trailing and upright. Last year, garden centre prices for the above were around £1.50 to £1.75 each. Our price this year is only £1.25 each or five plants for only £5.00. During the summer months we often have ready to flower hanging baskets on the stall for around £5.00 to £6.00.
Spring/Summer Bedding
It is possible to have a riot of colour in your garden most of the year. The first sunny days of February or March can see Viola - Pansy Primrose- Polyanthus and spring bulbs all flowering their socks off, shortly followed by a selection of plants that will give you masses of colour through summer and autumn. We grow all of our own bedding plants so we know they are healthy and properly acclimatised to the North East Climate. Bedding plants are sold mostly in 6 or 9 packs depending on variety. Our price is still only £2.00 a pack or 3 packs for £5.00, garden centre prices are usually around £3.00 a pack.
Vegetables
This year is to be promoted on TV as the year to grow your own veg. It's an excellent idea as prices are expected to be sky high, and quality questionable this year, as most of the agricultural fields have had the natural nutrients washed out this last wet summer/winter. It is a good time to grow your own. An allotment or large garden is perfect, but a worthwhile crop can be grown in grow bags, pots or with flowers in your borders. Young veg plants, herbs and salad plants can be ready most of the year. Potato and onion sets, tomato and sweetcorn plants will be ready early in the year.
Call at the stall and have a chat if you fancy a few tips on growing a crop of out of season or unusual veg.
